The University of Jordan (UJ) has been ranked among the best higher education institutions in the world according to the prestigious Shanghai Rankings, one of the most challenging global academic rankings. UJ is the only Jordanian university to achieve this distinction.
The Shanghai Rankings evaluate universities based on various criteria, including the presence of Nobel Laureates, Fields Medalists, Highly Cited Researchers, and publications in top journals like Nature and Science. Additionally, universities with a significant number of papers indexed by the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE) and the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) are considered. Out of over 2,500 evaluated universities, only the top 1,000 are published.
