| | | | | The University of Jordan (UJ) has been awarded an overall rating of 5 Stars by the QS Stars ranking of the British 'QS Intelligence Unit', which is recognized as one of top three major rating systems worldwide.
In the recently concluded audit of Quaquarelli Symonds (QS), UJ also received the highest rating, 5 stars, in 6 important categories; Inclusiveness, Innovation, Teaching, Internationalization, Facilities and Employability.
Moreover, the 2019 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject ranked UJ among the best universities in the world in three scientific areas and eight academic subjects.
UJ achieved excellent results in significant subjects such as medicine, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, agriculture, business, and computer science and information systems.
Discipline wise, UJ achieved a global ranking in three of them: engineering and technology, social and administrative sciences, and arts and humanities.
UJ ranked 373th globally in the field of engineering and technology, ranked 343th globally in the field of Social Sciences and Management, and 398th worldwide in Arts and Humanities. At the level of subjects, UJ was ranked 401-450 globally in Medicine, 251-300 in Pharmacy, 301-350 in Mechanical Engineering, and in the field of computer science and information systems UJ was place in 301-350 band.
Moreover, four new subjects have entered the world list in this year's edition. In electrical engineering, UJ was ranked 351-400 globally; in chemistry it was rated 451-500; whereas in agriculture, Business Science and Management, UJ was ranked in the 301-350 category.
There are currently only three Arab universities with five-star rating. According to the QS rating, five-star universities are generally world-class institutions with a high reputation. UJ was awarded the rating of 4 Stars in 2017.
| QS Stars | Featured Topics | | | | | | | The School of Nursing at the University of Jordan (UJ) has been granted the accreditation certificate of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for achieving quality and excellence in nursing education.
Commenting on the achievement, UJ President said "International accreditation will open the doors for the school's graduates on the international level", adding that it will facilitate their enrollment in corresponding global programs around the world.
He also said that accreditation will contribute to facilitating the exchange of teaching experience with institutions that have obtained the same accreditation, commending the efforts of the School's academic and administrative staff members for the successful implementation of all accreditation requirements.
According to the School of Nursing Dean Dr. Manar Nabolsi the achievement confirms that the School is committed to International standards and criteria of quality nursing education, and aims to ensure a high quality of program graduates who are capable of providing quality nursing care and community service.
An evaluation team from the Accreditation Council for Nursing Education (ACEN), March 28, 2017, made a 3-day onsite visit to the UJ. The team conducted an initial accreditation review of programs offered by the School. The team gave very positive reviews after onsite tours to the School, Main Library and the Admission and Registration Unit, as well as interviewing students and faculty, and attending lectures. The ACEN is the entity that is responsible for the specialized accreditation of nursing education programs, both postsecondary and higher degree which offers a certificate, a diploma, or a recognized professional degree.
UJSoN was established in 1972. It comprises three department; Clinical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, and Maternal and Child Health Nursing departments, and offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees in Nursing. The School's pursuit of international accreditation comes as part of its effort to accommodate the best education experience and highest standards of academic conduct.

QS Rankings are based on academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, student-to-faculty ratio, proportion of international faculty, and proportion of international students.
UJ also ranked in the 390th place worldwide in terms of academic reputation, advancing 112 positions from last year, and moved up 63 positions to the 267th place in terms of employer reputation.
According to the new report, the amount of scientific research published by UJ in the database of the international journals Scopus in the period 2011-2015 increased by 4.1% compared to the period 2010-2014, and the number of citations per faculty in the period 2011-2016 increased by 56% compared to the period 2010-2014.
With an overall ranking of first place in Jordan, UJ was ranked top institution in 4 categories: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, and international faculty.
UJ President commended the progress, confirming UJ's keenness to continue to improve its educational plans, enhance use of technology, and increase scientific research output.
QS is an annual ranking of the top 1,000 universities in the world and is considered one of the top three higher education rankings in the world in terms of importance and impact, along with the rankings of Times Higher Education and the Shanghai Rankings.

The chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering programs are all now accredited by ABET until 2022. The school of Engineering is one of the few to obtain this accreditation outside of the US.
ABET accreditation means that the three programs meet the quality standards of the profession that produce graduates who are prepared to enter a global workforce.
The criteria for accrediting engineering technology programs include the programs' educational objectives, curricula, student performance, faculty, facilities, and institutional support. The Physiotherapy bachelor programme offered by the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Jordan (UJ) has been awarded international accreditation by the World Federation of Physical Therapy (WCPT).

This year’s Golden Age list features 200 universities from 44 countries, up from 100 last year.
The Golden Age ranking, which classifies world universities established between 1945 and 1967, uses the same methodology as the THE World University Rankings. The ranking uses 13 performance indicators including teaching, research, industry engagement, and income.

QS Institution ranked the University of Jordan (UJ) among the top ten universities in the Arab region. UJ ranked ninth in the Arab World and first locally, followed by the Jordan University of Science and Technology, ranking fourteenth on the list.
The University attained exceptional results in most of the classification criteria. The University also ranked fourth in terms of reputation of graduates, eighth in terms of academic reputation and ninth in the percentage of PhD holders.
The importance of this ranking affects the students when choosing the universities to which they will join; the ranking criteria are practical and scientific indicators on the quality of academic programs and degrees.
It is worth noting that 250 Arab universities were evaluated in this classification and results of the best 120 universities were published.
