Prof. Abdul Salam Al-Majali was Born in AL-Karak in 1925. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Syria in 1949. Prof. Al-Majali obtained his Diploma in Ear, Nose and Throat Treatment from the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians in 1953.
Prof. Al-Majali received several appreciation and fellowship certificates from significant institutions such as the American College of Surgeons in 1960, an honorary doctorate from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey in 1974, the Royal College of Physicians in 1986 and the Islamic Academy of Sciences in 1986.
Prof. AL-Majali began his career in the Arab army as the head of the main military hospital. During the period from 1956 to 1959, Prof. AL-Majali was the Consultant for nose, ear and throat, then he was appointed as the director of Royal Jordanian Medical Services from 1960 to 1969.
In 1971, Prof. AL-Majali was appointed as the president of the University of Jordan until 1976 and a professor in the Faculty of Medicine until 1973.
In September, 1980 Prof. AL-Majali was reappointed as the President of the University of Jordan until 1989.
He held several renowned positions including Minister of Health, Minister of Education, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Prime Minister during the period from 1993-1995 and 1997 to 1999.
