Prof. Adel Mahasneh
Prof. Adel Mahasneh received his BSc in Biology from the University of Jordan (UJ) in 1969, MSc in Microbiology from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Scotland, UK, in 1975, and a PhD in Microbiology also from Heriot-Watt University, in 1977.
Prof. Mahasneh has been teaching Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology at UJ since 1978.
Throughout his career, Mahasneh held several academic and administrative positions at UJ and other institutions. He was a member of the board of trustees of Al al-Bayt University (2009- to 2014),  UJ’s Vice President for Administrative Affairs (2001-2002), Chairman of the Unified Admission Office for Public Jordanian Universities (2001/2002), Dean of UJ’s Faculty of Science (1993-1997), Chairman of Biological Sciences Department at Qatar University (1997-2001), Chairman of Biological Sciences Department at UJ (1983-1986), and Assistant Dean of UJ’s Faculty of Science (1983-1986).
Prof. Mahasneh was a visiting professor of microbiology, at the University of Bahrain for three years (1990-1993), and a visiting professor at Qatar University for 4 years (1997-2001) where he was in charge of restructuring and merging the departments of zoology and plant and microbiology in one new department of biological sciences.
At UJ, Mahasneh served as a member on or chair of various evaluation and research committees and university councils at the department, faculty, and university levels.
He is also a member of a number of scientific societies both in Jordan and abroad, including the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Microbiology Society, UK, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Sigma Chapter of Scientific American, Arab biologists Union (ABU), and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), Jordan.
Prof. Adel has won many awards and honors including the Distinguished Researcher of UJ’s Faculty of Science (2015), Seniority year award of the University of Jordan (1986), and Bahrain Crown Prince Scientific Award (1996).

Mahasneh is a highly accomplished scholar with more than 120 published scientific articles and works, and has participated in more than 30 international conferences and many local conferences.
Dr. Adel has also advised and co-advised more than 45 MSs and PhD students.
Dr. Mahasneh has an interest in public affairs. He has written over 50 weekly articles to the main Jordan daily newspaper Ad-Dustour, tackling the different concerns of the nation.
