Professor of Plant Pathology at the Department of Plant Protection, and former president of the University of Jordan and Yarmouk University, Prof. Abdullah Al-Musa earned his B.Sc. in Pesticides from Alexandria University, Egypt, 1971, M.Sc. in Horticulture from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, 1975, and a Ph.D in Plant Pathology (Virology) from Washington State University, USA, 1979.
Professor Al-Musa joined the University of Jordan in 1979 where he was promoted to associate professor in 1985 and professor in 1991. He held numerous key administrative positions at UJ including Head of the Department of Plant Protection, 1989-92, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, 1993-97, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, 1997-99, Vice President for Scientific and Medical Faculties, 1999-2002, and President of the University, 2002-04. He also served as president of Yarmouk University, 2011-2015.
Prof. Al-Musa received numerous awards and honors including a Fulbright Fellowship, 1985, Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Young Arab Scientists, 1984, Honorary Doctorate from Kabardino-Balkarian State University, Russia, 2004, and the Alumni Achievement Award, Washington State University, 2004.
Professor Al-Musa is also a highly accomplished scholar with over 50 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals and 4 published books.
